During recent years various EU programmes and projects that deal with the topic of energy efficiency in the building stock have been launched. Please find below a first listing (to be expanded and updated):

EU Programmes:

Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) is the main EU’s tool for funding action that promote energy efficiency, the rational use of energy sources and the use of new and renewable energy sourses. A key element of the Intelligent Energy for Europe (IEE) programme is energy efficient buildings. Its aim is to tap into this energy saving potential with innovative measures designed to raise the energy performance of new and existing buildings.

EU Projects:

EU Structural Funds:

In the current funding period (2007-2013) housing is eligible to the ERDF in the new Member States. more


The BEEN project is part-financed by the European Union (EU). Lead partner is the Berlin Government, Senate Department for Urban Development, Germany. The project is organized by the project coordinator:
